Debt matter Questions

My son sold his car to a friend six months ago, leaving him to complete the V5 registration document, which he hasn’t done. Consequently we have received parking fines totalling nearly £300. My son told the DVLA three months later that he’d sold the vehicle and he is refusing the pay the parking fines, but the bailiffs aren’t interested. What should he do?

My parents have always suggested that when they die their house will be divided between me and my two brothers. However they have signed as guarantors for loans my brothers have taken out. How will this affect me when my parents die, since they haven’t made a will?

I had to give up work three years ago. The Inland Revenue said I owed them £5,000 and took me to court, getting a charge registered on my house at the Land Registry. They now agree I owe less, but say it would be too much trouble to have the Land Registry documents changed. Should I insist that this is put right?

I jointly own a property, but my ex-partner was made bankrupt and a bankruptcy order was placed on the house a year ago. Will this order be removed if he is now discharged, or will they still be entitled to my ex-partner’s share when the house is sold?

I was made bankrupt in July last year, so since 12 months have passed I should now be discharged. If I come into some money will the bankruptcy people take it off me? Can I get credit now that the bankruptcy has finished?

Our house was repossessed after I split up with my husband, and for the last three years the bank has been pursuing me for the £20,000 we owed; they’re not pursuing my ex-husband because he’s on benefits. I was told the bank would give up eventually, but they’re insisting I send them my income details every six months. How long can it go on?

When my son married, his wife already had a mortgage in her own name. For a number of years he has been paying two mortgages, but he’s now unable to do this and her house is being repossessed. Is my son liable for his wife’s mortgage, and will it affect him in any way?

A friend stood guarantor for a £1,000 laptop bought by her adult son. He has sold the computer, and now he’s stopped giving her the £14 a week repayment. Could she take him to court and have the money taken from his benefits to cover the debt?

I’m quite heavily in debt, but I’ve come to an arrangement with my creditors over repayments. However I’m getting married in six months’ time, and wondered if my future husband will become liable for my debts in any way?
