Areas of Law / Divorce and Family

My son has worked in Germany for more than ten years. He’s marrying a Filipino girl in the Philippines in September, and he’s established that she can stay in Germany for three months a year on a special visa. Will she have a right to enter the UK?

As long as the ceremony in the Philippines is recognised by the authorities there it will be valid in the UK. Your son’s fiancée should apply for entry clearance from the British Embassy in Manila. If she were to live in this country for 12 months, and as long as the couple could satisfy the Home Office that they were still married, she could apply for indefinite leave to stay here as the wife of a British citizen.
