Areas of Law / Bankruptcy Debt

Some time ago I got into financial difficulties and got behind with my payments to a finance company with whom I had an HP agreement. They sent me reminder letters and charged me £15 for each one sent, adding the amount to my outstanding balance. Are they allowed to do this?

You will have to look at the terms of your HP agreement carefully. You may find that you have agreed that the finance company is entitled to charge you for sending out reminders. If the finance company were to apply to the County Court for a repossession order you would probably be responsible for their legal costs too.
