We paid a local company £5,000 to tarmac our driveway but the result was a mess: they tarmaced straight over manhole covers, rainwater gathers on the surface and we can’t even shut the gate. They’ve promised to put things right but repeatedly refuse to give us a date. We reckon it will cost £5,600 to do the job again: how long do we have to give them before going to the small claims court?
If this is a reputable company with an office the small claims court is an option. You should give the firm a “reasonable” length of time: after 14 days they should at least have been able to give you a date for starting the repairs but getting them to put things right is likely to be the cheapest route, make a nuisance of yourself until they do.
