Areas of Law / Personal Injury

A few months ago I was shopping in a store when my husband stepped back into the perfume counter and knocked a perfume tester on to the floor, smashing it. I cut my foot badly on the glass and it’s still swollen. Do I have a claim for compensation against the store?

No, unless you can show that the perfume counter was so badly sited, or its contents so badly arranged, that people were constantly knocking things off on to the floor. You have to prove negligence on the part of the store. You would have had a potential claim, for example, if staff had left the glass lying about after an accident and you had then stepped on it.
