I was made bankrupt in July last year, so since 12 months have passed I should now be discharged. If I come into some money will the bankruptcy people take it off me? Can I get credit now that the bankruptcy has finished?

Under normal circumstances a bankrupt gets an automatic discharge from bankruptcy after a year. Check your discharge date online using the Individual Insolvency Register. You can email the Insolvency Service for a confirmation letter to prove your bankruptcy has ended. If you are now discharged and you come into money it’s yours to keep: the trustee can only seize your cash and property during the bankruptcy term. Credit is a different matter: it depends whether you can find anyone prepared to lend you money.
