My wife and I haven’t any property to leave so we haven’t made a will. However we would like to make sure that any money we have goes to my wifes son by her previous marriage when we die. Is it possible to make a joint will to this effect?
You should make separate but related wills, leaving your money to each other in the first instance but with a common clause directing that any money remaining on the death of the survivor should go to your stepson. It won’t be expensive to make two simple wills such as these.
