Areas of Law / Divorce and Family

I recently separated from my wife. We have no children, but I’m very attached to our two dogs. Because of my work I couldn’t provide a home for them, but I would like to see them and have them stop over from time to time after the divorce. Would a court allow this?

The courts would be likely to treat the dogs as possessions. So while they could decide which one of you the dogs were to live with, they wouldn’t, for example, make a contact order as they might in a case involving children. Unless you can provide a home for the dogs I doubt the courts can help you; you will have to reach an agreement with your wife.
