Divorce and Family Questions

When I divorced several years ago I agreed to a lower settlement in return for my husband paying to have my name removed from the mortgage. But even though he has remarried I am still on the mortgage. Is there any way I can resolve this?

My friend and his wife are in the middle of a divorce. However she won’t sign the divorce papers. How long can she delay signing?

Our daughter has split up with her husband. They have a four-year-old son. It’s been very acrimonious but the father has kept in regular contact with his son and now wants to take the boy abroad to visit his grandparents. What can we do to ensure that he brings the boy back?

I am, through marriage, named as the father on a child’s birth certificate, although there is some doubt whether the child really is mine. How would I go about applying for a blood test to settle the matter once and for all?

When you get divorced are you automatically disassociated from your husband financially? I’m confused about this, because my ex-husband has found out all about my financial comings and goings through several accounts where we have money.

My great-grandmother bought a piece of furniture in 1865 and made a will stating that it was to be handed down through the family. My aunt left it to me in her will 25 years ago. Now my wife is claiming it along with my other property in our divorce, but I want it to stay in the family. Will my wife be able to lay claim to it?

When my husband divorced, his ex-wife got the house and was ordered to use her “best endeavours” to release him from his obligations under the mortgage. However my husband is still responsible for paying off the mortgage if she fails to use the lump sum at the end of the term to pay it, or if she dies. This is a huge threat hanging over us.

When my ex-husband walked out of our marriage just days after the ceremony, he said he would reimburse me some of the costs of the wedding, which ran into thousands. He never did. Could I take some kind of legal action against him?

I have been divorced for two years. My ex-husband lives in our house with the children. I would now like to go for custody of the children and also to have the house back. Where do I start?
